Benjamin DeYoung, DVM
About Me
Growing up on a small ranch with 30 cow/calf pairs and a pony named Thunder made life around large animals normal for me.
In high school I worked as a milker on a local dairy, regularly dealing with the hospital string and day to day operations in addition to working on the family ranch.
The dairyman I worked for noticed my interest and encouraged me to apply to the undergraduate program in animal science at the University of California Davis with the plan to become a veterinarian.

After graduating from college, I spent several years as a dairy herd manager and then working as a cowboy/ranch hand on two different cattle ranches in northern California (those were fun jobs!).
In 2014 I applied and was accepted into the veterinary medicine program at Ross University and spent almost three years living on the islands of St. Kitts and Nevis. It is a beautiful place to study and relax but long-term island life isn’t for me.
I did my clinical year at the University of Colorado and graduated with my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2018.
I was fortunate to work for Mill Station Veterinary for four years where I honed my clinical and veterinary skills working with large beef cattle and dairy operations, small ruminates and the 4-H and FFA organizations.
In 2022 I had the opportunity to do continuing education with Dr. Luke Bass at the University of Colorado which provided me with hands-on experience doing equine lameness and reproduction.
My fascination with large animal veterinary medicine continues and I look forward to working with you to treat your animals in the best way possible.
